Note: for reliable results at this scale, you need to use a laser printer for creating decal sheets. What GW kit would be complete without decals? You can either hope to find an expensive Forgeworld sheet of decals, or you can try printing your own with your home printer. Not sure how BobCAD came up with those power settings. Here in part 2, we will look at applying more complicated patterns by creating your own custom transfer decals, and then take a look at how the final results come together in a finished product. After that I EDIT the start positionĪnd the power settings.

CCW Counter Clockwise and Ctr is the circle center.īelow is code that BobCAD wrote, it loaded up into the machine. Start is the start position, the other numbers are the power settings for the EDM arc. There are otherĬommands like Rapid but most of the time these are used. Arcs have a point in the beginning and end. Rectangular moves are simple, point to point. Here is a program to wire burn a hole, I did this on the machin.
MASTERCAM X5 TRACE A PICTURE MANUAL
I'm willing to share my users manual if someone in interested. I have Solidworks CAD so I do not use the CAD portion of BobCAD. I have made a little BobCAD users manual in Microsoft Word with lots of screen pictures to help me remember the steps to convert a CAD drawing to machine code. Yes, BobCAD calls me up now and then to see how things are going and if I need anything, but I rather enjoy the calls since I work alone. They are top notch tech support and always answered my questions. I spoke with BobCAD tech support 5 or 6 times last week. Probably saved me hours of keying in the code manually and BobCAD made no mistakes like I would have. I programmed a job, setup the job, tested the program in 30 minutes and I was ready to run. I was somewhat thrilled to see BobCAD work. Last week I finally got around to using BobCAD V23 and programmed 2 different jobs and ran them on my wire EDM. Not many CAM programs writing code for the Hansvedt so I'm rather grateful BobCAD is there and it is affordable. I need BobCAD V23 for writing code for my Hansvedt DS-2 Wire EDM. MasterCam has a lot more user flexibilty and tool path control. I actually like to use GibbsCam for creating solid models and stock bodies and then use MasterCam for machining them. 2009 because they hate change! Luckily when I started using MasterCam it was V X5 so I had a pretty good experience. I think Al is right as well, I work with a few guys that are using Gibbs V.

After talking to several MasterCam users I guess they really screwed up the software going to verion X. Thought it odd with Mastercam up to V6.That's pretty funny, I noticed that as well! I even rewinded to take a second look and sure enough, V9. On a side note about the American chopper show, one of the recent ones should Jim Quinn at OCC programming a very complex part for the Malaysian tourist board and he was clearly using MasterCam V9. I think a move and no more call forwarding has put an end to the calls and the emails are infrequent now. The sales calls where definitely excessive and lasted probably five to six years. We promptly upgraded software from there with purchase of a new machine. I actually liked the software as it was cheap to get into and I learned more G-code than I guy should have to. My Bob Cad experience ended with version 18.
